November winners
We are thrilled to announce the winners of our Show Us Your Stuff competition in November:
The first prize, and cheque for £250 is awarded to Sue Kay of Tunbridge Wells. Sue used Rust-Oleum spray paint on her fireplace, mirror and wall canvases to achieve sumptuous style …on a budget! After cladding the old 1950s tiled fireplace with wood, Sue’s husband used Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch in Antique White (Gloss) to produce a traditional focal point. Sue explains, “he chose spray paint because it adheres to different surfaces, produces a really uniform finish and is very quick.” Additionally he used Rust-Oleum Universal in Aged Copper (Metallic finish) in the centre of the fireplace for contrast. Next they bought a cheap resin mirror and spray painted it the same colour as the fireplace. Sue told us, “There’s a great interior shop near us and we were tempted by the stunning £200 mirrors they had. In the end we opted for the £35 one and sprayed it to match – job done in 20 minutes!”
Finally Sue’s talented husband then painted Mark Rothko-esque designs on two old Ikea canvases using both spray paint and emulsion paint leftover from the walls. The resulting pictures are stunning and coordinate perfectly with the colour scheme.
Our runners up for November are:

Monika bought a couple of rusted aluminium trays from her local car boot sale and gave them a great new look with Rust-Oleum Textured in Desert Bisque.
Paul gave his 1955 Mills “Hi-top” fruit machine a spray paint makeover, restoring it as near as possible to its’ original “Deuces Wild” Mills colours with Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch in Sun Yellow Gloss, Cherry Red Gloss and Universal Titanium Silver (Metallic finish).
Thanks to Allison for entering her spray painted table top, which is an original yet simple and effective idea which looks fantastic. Allison was looking to furnish her new home on a tight budget and had bought the table on Ebay. Allison explains, “After a quick sand down to remove the old cracked varnish, I made paper templates in the shape of a fork, knife and plate and stuck them to the table with tape. I then spray painted the table with Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch to create this retro effect. The sprays came in a range of great colours, I chose Sage Green (Gloss) to match my kitchen cupboards. After letting the paint dry I removed the templates allowing the original wood to show through creating a great contrast. I then varnished the table. It was a quick and easy project and I think its created a unique piece of furniture in an afternoon.”
John used Rust-Oleum Direct to Plastic in White for his Snowman-Cyberman! “This is a Christmas present box for our die hard Dr.Who fan friend.” explains John, “This is the first time I have used your products and I am extremely impressed that the hard finish doesn’t mark as you continue to work with the piece.” John, we hope your friend liked his present! We loved it!
A beautiful butterfly lampshade was created by Samantha Ashmore. She gave an old, dirty cream lampshade a facelift using Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch in Black Satin, using butterfly stickers that were peeled off once the paint was completely dry. The effect is stunning and we hope Samantha’s project will inspire many more beautiful lampshades!

Sue sent us a truly original entry in the shape of a pink, polka dot bikini! Sue explains, “We have recently moved into a house that is in desperate need of renovation, to brighten up the bathroom I indulged myself by spray painting a giant bikini on the tiles and bath panel. It makes me smile every time I go in and I love having a long soak in the bath now.” Sue used Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch in Berry Pink and Sun Yellow (Gloss) for her bikini, and we loved Sue’s cheeky design – it really made us smile too!
We loved this elegant double-seater wicker chair by Felicity. She has used Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch in Spa Blue (Gloss) to give it a new lease of life and to ensure it really stands out.

We love how Samantha has completely transformed this piece of furniture that her mum was going to throw away using not only Rust-Oleum Universal spray paint in black, but also wallpaper and black and white photographs. She has then sealed these with Rust-Oleum Polyurethane Varnish. She now has a unique and very personal piece of furniture that she can treasure.
Kathryn has creatively transformed an old plant pot stand into a cake stand for her three-tier wedding cake. The stand was bought for just a few pounds and sprayed with Rust-Oleum Metallic in Bright Gold. Kathryn also bought plastic wine glasses and used the same paint to decorate these for table favours.

Dawn has used Rust-Oleum Metallic in Silver to tranform a cabinet bought from her local “tip” shop – a great “trash to treasure” makeover!
Thanks to all who entered in November and look out for our December winners coming soon!
