April Winners

Thanks once again to everyone who entered “Show Us Your Stuff” during April. It was a really tough month to judge with a record number of entries and some really imaginative projects!

Our congratulations go out to Toni Sidonio the winner of our April competition. Toni transformed an old tea trolley with a fun, vintage tea-time theme and has won £250 for her shabby chic creation!

Toni used three types of Rust-Oleum spray paint to revive her tired old tea trolley. She firstly used Rust-Oleum Surface Primer in White and then sprayed over the trolley trays with Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch in White (Matt) spray. When this had dried she cut out paper doilies and arranged them in a pattern on the surface of the trolley. Once she was pleased with the design she lightly fixed them in place with spray adhesive and then applied a top colour (Painter’s Touch in Candy Pink Satin). When the last coat was completely dry she removed the doilies that had acted as a stencil creating a permanent doily-pattern effect on the trolley which is wipe-able.

Toni advises that this was her first ever project using spray paint, and reveals that she is thrilled with the results.

We thought the use of paper doilies as a stencil was a brilliant idea, and it gave her project a unique finish that we can’t wait to try ourselves! And it just goes to show that spray painting can be attempted by anyone – even if, like Toni, you’ve never done it before!
